The making of The Craftsman Agency
How we embraced craft, storytelling, and immersive experiences to connect brands with audiences.
Today is the day—the day we launch our new agency. The Craftsman Agency is rooted in a truth we’ve long held, and one that marks an exciting path forward: Marketing is about connecting at a human level and telling a story in a powerful way.

The origin of The Craftsman
When you’re busy with client work, it feels like you have no time to think about your own brand. At the agency I previously co-founded, when I took that moment to think, I realized that we were helping clients with their requests, but not in ways that I believed would make the most business impact. What I wanted to focus on was developing human connections to drive long-term brand affinity.
A transformative conversation with Jamie, one of our first employees, helped crystallize my thinking. We discussed how so much marketing had become rote and lacked creativity. I recall telling her that I wanted to get up every day and hone my marketing, creative, and advertising skills. Essentially, I wanted to be a Craftsman, and I knew many of our team would share my vision. This is the moment in our conversation when The Craftsman came to life.
I mentioned that I had been toying with the idea of an agency where we could focus on art and immersive storytelling, creating beautiful, awe-inspiring work that evokes emotion and speaks authentically.
The word “craftsman” really seemed to say it all: an artist, creating beautiful, thoughtful work through skill.
We validated the concept across our leadership team as well as with clients and prospects, and the feedback confirmed our direction: Art matters, and audiences are seeking marketing that’s helpful, entertaining, and authentic. Our focus needed to be on craft, storytelling, and experiences that truly connect with a brand’s audience.
The movement
Our brand isn’t just about us. The Craftsman Agency is a movement, a rally cry for imaginative marketers who want to push the envelope while staying focused on results.
We will stand up against bad stock photos, the mundane, and the amplification of brand messages that sound like every other brand. We will enable brands to connect with their audiences in deeper, more meaningful ways.
